Ugnayan and Bahaginan is a national conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) that integrates Climate Change and Adaptation (CCA) and Ecosystems Management and Restoration (EMR). It brought together over 20 municipalities from eight regions across the country to advance their current efforts in DRR. It was held at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City last October 12-13.
Its aim is to deepen the appreciation for an integrated DRR-CCA-EMR approach while creating an opportunity for inter-local government unit (LGU) partnerships. As the Hyogo Framework for Action is nearing its end next year, and the sunset review of RA 10121 (Philippine DRRM Law) is set, the discussion on how the current DRR strategies of the national government can be improved is of utmost relevance.
